Ordinance 2/2026 : Extending the Martial Law

The National Defence and Security Council has issued Ordinance 2/2026 on Thursday, extending martial law in townships where the state of emergency remains in effect under Order No. 1/2026.

According to the Section 413(b) of the Constitution, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services will continue to exercise the powers and duties of administration in those areas. The Commander-in-Chief may carry out these responsibilities directly or delegate them to an appropriate military authority. The order was signed by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Acting President.
