Sri Lanka’s rebuild of religious sites destroyed by Cyclone Ditwah

A national programme to rebuild religious sites damaged by Cyclone Ditwah was inaugurated on Tuesday under the patronage of Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The President stated that steps will be taken to restore religious sites damaged by Cyclone Ditwah especially Sri Bodhirukkaarama Viharaya in Doragala while preserving their historical and cultural value. He noted that many rural temples operate under extremely challenging conditions.

In response, a rapid development programme has been planned to select and improve these rural temples, with coordination led by the Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs.
