A coordination meeting on the production of rabies vaccines was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on January 28.

Deputy Minister Dr Aung Gyi said Myanmar is implementing mass dog vaccination programs and emphasized that any locally produced vaccine must meet international safety and quality standards. He added that producing vaccines domestically would help reduce imports and ensure timely supply when needed.

Experts also presented updates on rabies prevention, vaccination coverage, and vaccine production methods, followed by discussions and recommendations. The meeting discussed the current status, technical requirements, human resources, and infrastructure needs for producing rabies vaccines locally. Officials highlighted that rabies is a dangerous disease for both humans and animals, with most cases transmitted by dogs.
