Workshop on Energy Efficiency: MoI UM delivered the opening address

Under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Initiative 2023, the workshop on energy efficiency and the project completion ceremony for the energy efficiency pioneer project in the food and beverage industry sector was held on January 27 at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than attended and delivered the opening address.

First, the Union Minister, in his opening address, stated that the main objective of organizing this workshop is to implement energy efficiency measures in factories and workshops within the food and beverage industry sector through this project, aiming to reduce production costs and enhance production capacity.

He mentioned that at today's workshop, project officials, domestic experts, and representatives from factories involved in the practical implementation will share the project's results, valuable experiences, and lessons learned from implementing energy efficiency measures.

Continuing, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Myanmar stated that the food and beverage industry is a fundamental sector that links raw material production and service sectors. Food production requires significant resources and energy, and by utilizing energy efficiently and reducing losses, economic and environmental balance can be achieved. He expressed his belief that this project can continue to provide good results for the energy efficiency of Myanmar's food and beverage industry sector.

Following that, the Vice-Chairman of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Coordinating Committee (Myanmar) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a speech. The Union Minister presented commemorative gifts to the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Myanmar, representatives from the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and officials from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Myanmar, and they took a commemorative group photo.

In the afternoon, officials from the Ministry of Industry explained the project implementation and its successful results. An official from the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Working Group separately explained the status of energy efficiency-related activities undertaken in the project. The workshop continued according to the event program.

In the evening, the Union Minister attended the commemorative dinner ceremony reception marking the successful completion of the energy efficiency pioneer project in the food and beverage industry sector, it’s reported.
