13th ASEAN Para Games: Closing ceremony of the Games held

The closing ceremony of the 13th ASEAN Para Games, hosted by Thailand, was held in the evening on January 26 at 6:00 PM local time at the Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Commemorative Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand. Attended were administrators/coaches and athletes from the Myanmar Para Sports Federation led by its Chairman Major General Hla Moe, officials from various countries, and administrators/coaches and athletes from participating teams.

At the closing ceremony, attendees observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the late Queen of the host country, Thailand, before the ceremony commenced.

Subsequently, artists from Thailand performed cultural dances. Following the performances, sports teams from the ten participating ASEAN countries entered the field holding their national flags.

The ceremony continued with the screening of a summary video clip of the 13th ASEAN Para Games. The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand delivered an opening address. The Chairman of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) Board of Governors, the Secretary-General, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 13th ASEAN Para Games also delivered congratulatory speeches.

Afterwards, there was a handover of the Para Games flag to Malaysia, the host of the 14th ASEAN Para Games. This was followed by the lowering of the APSF flag and the Para Games flags, and the hoisting of the national flag of Malaysia, the host country for 2027. The host country, Malaysia, presented its traditional cultural dance performances. Closing commemorative performances were held, and the ceremony concluded with a display of colorful fireworks.

At the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the Myanmar Para Sports Team competed in 11 sports, winning 20 gold medals, 19 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals, for a total of 59 medals, securing the 6th position in the overall national rankings, it’s learnt.
