Election successfully completed: Election held in phases successfully completed

In a democratic system, elections are of utmost importance. Voters must exercise their civic right to vote in order to choose and determine the future path of the nation. Therefore, to successfully implement the genuine and disciplined multi-party democracy system desired by the people, the multi-party democracy general election has been conducted in phases under the leadership of the State and with the participation of the people.

Despite the destructive actions of terrorist insurgent groups, the election has been successfully completed. Phase (1) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election was held on December 28, 2025, in 102 townships; Phase (2) was held on January 11, 2026, in 100 townships and Phase (3) was held on January 25, 2026, in 61 townships. It has been witnessed by all that voters participated actively and orderly, casting their votes freely according to their will and fulfilling their civic duties as responsible citizens of the nation, from 6 a.m. until the closure of polling stations, without any pressure.

While the State and the people were choosing the path of democracy, the terrorist insurgent groups, aiming to undermine the nation's stability, peace, and development, and opposing the joint efforts of the government and the people, carried out malicious activities.

They sought to disrupt the election, damage the socio-economic lives of the people, and intimidate voters who were peacefully casting their ballots. These acts included direct and indirect sabotage, sending threatening letters, firing homemade heavy weapons and rockets from a distance, detonating sound mines, dropping bombs using drones, firing from fixed-wing aircraft, obstructing and threatening transportation vehicles to and from polling stations, and spreading false propaganda and fabricated news through exiled media outlets.

Although the terrorist insurgent groups attempted various forms of sabotage from the pre-election period to disrupt the successful implementation of the multi-party democracy general election process which represents the path toward the multi-party democratic system desired by the people to prevent country’s stability and peace, and to hinder the joint efforts of the government and the people in national development, it was observed that the majority of the people, understanding the sincere intentions and objectives of the State, which aims for the stability and prosperity of the people's lives and country’s development, voted for the party candidates of their choice. In the general election that commenced on December 28, 2025, there were a total of 24.22 million eligible voters. Politically, 57 political parties including 6 competing nationwide and 51 competing within individual states and regions were set to contest in 263 out of 330 townships. The election was successfully held with freedom, fairness, and transparency, witnessed by international election observers, diplomats, media, and enthusiastic voters who cast their ballots in person.

Therefore, it is learned that the relevant authorities urge all citizens who support the democratic system and desire country’s peace, stability, and the improvement of people's social lives to continue cooperating with the responsible authorities for the success of the multi-party democracy system. All are urged to promptly report any information on the activities of terrorists or any suspicious matters to the relevant authorities.
