






Acting President, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, received Mr. Mongkol Visiststump, the Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar who has completed his tour of duty in Myanmar and is preparing to depart, at the Reception Hall of the National Defense and Security Council Office in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon of January 26.
During the meeting, they had a cordial discussion regarding matters of Myanmar-Thailand diplomatic relations and friendship. They discussed Thailand's participation in the international election observation teams that monitored the multi-party democracy general election in Myanmar, noting that voters came of their own free will, without any inducement, to cast their votes according to their own wishes, and that the election was able to be conducted as a free, fair, and clean election.
They also discussed the need for cooperation between the governments and armed forces of both countries to restore stability and peace in border areas for the improvement of bilateral trade and commodity flow. Additionally, they talked about how the Myanmar government is vigorously tackling online fraud and gambling as well as narcotics suppression as a national duty, and the ongoing cooperative efforts in environmental conservation work in the border regions of both countries. Following the meeting, the Acting President SSPC and the Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar exchanged commemorative gifts and took a group photo, it’s learnt.
