Coordination Meetings: Taninthayi Region CM addressed the meetings

The coordination meetings of the Tanintharyi Region Vacant, Fallow, and Virgin Lands Management Committee and the Farmland Management Committee were held on January 26 at the meeting hall of the Regional Government Office in Dawei.

During the meeting, Chairman of Committee Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, delivered the opening remarks. In his remarks, the Chief Minister stated that the high volume of projects aimed at regional development, including the conversion of farmland for other uses and livestock breeding activities on vacant, fallow, and virgin lands. Regarding the electricity sector, he highlighted upcoming solar energy projects in Myeik.

The regional government is currently coordinating with relevant officials to facilitate these initiatives. He emphasized the need for caution when converting land for other purposes to ensure that development efforts do not encounter unnecessary obstacles or difficulties in specific areas. He urged all attendees to provide collective suggestions and discussions regarding farmland management to further regional development.

Following the speech, the Director of the Region Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics presented current progress reports. Committee members then provided additional explanations and engaged in discussions. The meeting concluded with the Region Chief Minister coordinating the requirements presented during the session.
