A total of 149 PDF members, including 141 men and 8 women have entered the legal fold together with weapons and ammunition, after accepting the peace process of the State and the Tatmadaw.
The government continues to encourage armed group members to return to the legal framework and provides necessary assistance to those who do so. Following security operations in parts of Mandalay Region, local residents cooperated with security forces, leading to more members abandoning armed activities.
The returnees cited forced recruitment, internal abuse, harsh living conditions, inability to continue fighting, and a desire to live peacefully and contribute to society as reasons for laying down arms. A handover ceremony was held at the Central Command Headquarters in Mandalay.
The returnees handed over firearms, grenades, ammunition and communication equipment. Cash rewards totaling 73.5 million kyat were provided for surrendered weapons and for those who returned without arms. Officials stated that assistance and rewards will continue for anyone who wishes to enter the legal fold and urged remaining individuals to contact nearby administrative offices, military units, or police stations.
