Systematic Renovation: Retrofit design and knowledge sharing session

The Ministry of Construction on Thursday held a discussion on Retrofit Design and Knowledge Sharing on Technology that must be followed in renovation of red level earthquake affected staff housings and buildings in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister U Myo Thant in his capacity of Buildings Restoration, Utilization, and New Buildings Construction Supervision Committee Chairman attended the meeting, and made a speech, saying that the Ministry’s implementations for renovation of earthquake affected buildings were categorized based on the condition of damage. Related departments and companies are urged to follow the Standard Operation Procedure-SOP, issued by Myanmar Engineering Council, Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies and engineering experts.

He added that in renovation of red level buildings, related companies need to be carry out the tasks systematically under the supervision of Professional Engineers and Register Senior Engineesr.

The Union Minister called for cooperative efforts of officials for completion of renovation processes in specific timeframe.  The attendees reported on current working processes and engineering experts answered the questions, raised by the attendees. The meeting was concluded after the Union Minister made necessary discussion.
