






The introductory workshop and technical training for the project on farmers’ participatory approaches for enhancing ruminant nutrition and productivity through community based improved food technologies within Nay Pyi Taw Council area was launched on Thursday.
The project will be implemented by the Department of Livestock and Aquaculture Research under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation with the budget of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2025). During his opening speech, Union Minister U Min Naung stressed the crucial role of livestock sector for food security, nation’s economy and people’s nutrition.
He explained that the project aims to enhance the effective utilization of local natural resources by converting agricultural waste into commercially valuable animal feed, to increase income sources for rural farmers by strengthening linkages between the agricultural and livestock sectors, and to promote rural development and living standards through the dissemination of technology-based, low-cost, and environmentally friendly livestock practices.
He urged all concerned persons to work diligently to ensure that the expected outcomes are fully achieved. Afterwards, Vice President of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Coordination Committee gave remarks. Officials later reported on the project plans and presented supplementary aids to representatives from project located villages.
After the ceremony, the Union Minister and guests observed the displayed posters and agricultural waste animal food products. It is learnt that the project will be implemented at Thittat village-tract, Kyopin , Thapyaepin and Sharsipho villages in Nay Pyi Taw Zeyathiri Township.
