Inspection Tour: Oil refinery projects inspected

Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, along with the departmental officials made field inspection on working progress at Oil Refinery (Thanlyin) on January 21st.

The Union Minister and party heard reports on current construction of new oil refinery and machinery installation by the Managing Director of Myanma Petrochemical Enterprise and officials. The Union Minister instructed for timely completion of new workshop construction and stressed for systematic supervision by the officials in installing new machinery, meeting set standards.

The completion of new oil refinery could provide benefits of producing products from waste without harming natural environment and able to produce value-added products such as dry ice by using technologies. Regarding the phase (2) of the project, plans are underway to construct new oil refinery with a capacity of 3 million tons of crude oil per year in 2028, while Thanbayakan Oil Refinery Project is being implemented with the cooperation of state owned energy organizations from China to fulfill the local gasoline consumption.

The Union Minister inspected the construction site, instructing workplace safety for the workers and provided foodstuff to them. At the Energy Museum, the Union Minister cordially met with the staff and students and made encouragement. During his visit to Main Fuel Terminal (Danidaw) under the Myanma Petrochemical Enterprise, the Union Minister met with the officials, gave necessary instructions and coordinated the needs on the reports by the officials.
