Press Briefing: Seizures of drugs, materials and production sites briefed

A press briefing on the largest-ever seizures of narcotic drugs and materials used in the manufacture of narcotic drugs in the Mongyai area, as well as the exposure and seizure of equipment used in online scam and gambling activities, was held at the Anisakhan Airport Lounge in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Region in the morning on January 14.

At the press briefing, Commission member, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Leader of the Information Team of the National Defence and Security Council Deputy Minister for Information Major General Zaw Min Tun, together with responsible officials, explained the situation regarding the discovery and seizure of drug-manufacturing sites in the Mongyai area and the confiscation of materials and related items used in the production of narcotic drugs.

They also responded to questions raised by domestic and foreign diplomats and media representatives. Afterward, attendees toured and viewed the seized items, including materials related to drug production, confiscated equipment, and documentary photographs. After the press, the Union Minister, the Information Team Leader and officials together with the diplomats and journalists went to the drug-manufacturing sites in Mongyai area to witness the confiscated items.

During the visit, 100 million kyat cash reward to the Tatmadawmen and member of Myanmar Police Force who involved in the operation, trough the Northeast Command Commander and the Deputy Police Chief. It was awarded by presented by the Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing for their outstanding performance during the raid.
