Myanmar authorities continue nationwide operations to eliminate online scams and online gambling, treating it as a national security priority.

Operations continue for the remaining structures used for online scam activities. In Shwe Kokko, authorities have been conducting inspections since 18 November. On Sunday, they searched 33 buildings, seizing computers, mobile phones, and related equipment used for online scams.

No active scam operators were found during the inspections. In addition, authorities arrested 156 foreign nationals hiding in the area after being involved in online scams, including citizens from China, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal, India, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, Rwanda, Nigeria, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Benin, Burundi, Togo, and Singapore.

From 18 November to date, a total of 1,746 illegal foreign nationals have been found in Shwe Kokko. Seized items include 2,893 computers, 21,750 mobile phones, 101 Starlink units, 21 routers, and many other devices used in online crimes.

Those detained are being held at a secured facility in Shwe Kokko and undergoing identity verification before being repatriated to their home countries.
