World Diabetes Day: Union Minister Attends Commemorative Ceremony

The ceremony to commemorate World Diabetes Day 2025 was held at the Ministry of Health on November 13.

At the event, the Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win stated that diabetes is a major cause of premature death; 11.1% of the world's population is suffering from diabetes; globally, approximately 3.4 million people die due to diabetes; and in Myanmar, 7.9% of the public has diabetes.

He emphasized that if efforts to prevent and control non-communicable diseases are carried out effectively, the life expectancy of the public will increase.

Following his speech, a video commemorating World Diabetes Day 2025 was screened, after which the Union Minister toured the commemorative mini-exhibition. The theme for this year's World Diabetes Day is "Know more and do more for Diabetes at work."
