Inspection Tour: Promoting productivity and preventing climate-related losses

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi visited Kyaiklat Township of Ayeyawady Region, on November 11 to encourage farmers and inspect paddy seed production fields in Hlae Seik Village. He also met with local farmers at the Mya Rice Seed Purification Factory.

The Deputy Minister urged farmers to use fertilizers properly according to soil conditions and crop needs, and to focus on quality and market standards to gain better prices. He highlighted the importance of modern farming techniques to reduce production costs and increase profits.

In the afternoon, he met with fishing business owners in Pyapon to discuss sustainable fishing practices, prevention of illegal fishing, and protection of fish resources and ecosystems. He called for cooperation among all stakeholders to conserve Myanmar’s aquatic resources.

Later, at the Pyapon District Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department, he met with district and field officers to discuss measures for boosting crop yields, preparing for changing weather and natural disasters, and ensuring food security. He also emphasized strict adherence to existing laws and regulations in coastal and inland fishing operations.
