Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the Crop Productivity Enhancement Coordination Meeting at the Magway Region Government Office on November 11.
The Chief Minister said that Magway Region is an agriculture-based region, playing a key role in the country’s economy. He emphasized efforts to boost crop production and achieve targets for 10 major crops in the 2025–2026 season. So far, over 5.55 million acres of crops have been cultivated, reaching 176.72% of the target for total crop area.
The cultivation area has increased by more than 450,000 acres compared to the same period last year. He urged departments to assist farmers on time, ensure accurate data on harvested areas, and encourage full utilization of post-monsoon lands for winter and summer crops to meet production goals.
The meeting discussed the need to expand multiple cropping, increase yields, and promote oil crop cultivation for domestic self-sufficiency and export potential.
