





The second meeting of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Central Working Body for the 2025-2026 fiscal year was held on November 10 at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw.
In this meeting, Chairman of the Central Working Body Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw stated that it is necessary to increase exports from the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and the zone must connect more with domestic MSMEs.
Regarding the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone, he said that the Kyaukphyu Deep Sea Port Project must be continued in accordance with the laws, bylaws, and procedures. He also instructed that investors interested in the Dawei Special Economic Zone should be handled in accordance with the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Law and its bylaws.
Also, the Vice-Chairman Union Minister for Commerce U Chit Swe called for continuous efforts to increase investment in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and further cooperation in successfully implementing the Kyaukphyu SEZ and Dawei SEZ projects. Subsequently, a clarification was presented on the implementation status of the resolutions made at the first meeting.
Following this, the Chairmen of the Management Committees for the Thilawa SEZ, Kyaukphyu SEZ, and Dawei SEZ presented their remarks, and the members of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Working Body discussed the operational status of each zone.
Finally, the Chairman of the Central Working Body provided further clarification and discussion, coordinated the necessary actions regarding the presentations, and delivered the concluding remarks.
