Sports Sector: Men’s Football Tournament in Kayah State

The opening ceremony of the 2025 Kayah State Chief Minister’s Trophy Men’s Football Tournament was held at the State Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In his opening address, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin stated that the tournament is being organized with the aim of enabling young people to advance from being State-level athletes to becoming nationally renowned athletes, raising the standard of sports within the state, and fostering ethnic solidarity.

Following the speech, the participating teams recited the Sports Oath. And, the Chief Minister and officials warmly greeted the teams and presented them with cash awards and training footballs. The State Chief Minister then enthusiastically watched a match between Htet Myat Paing Htoo FC and Lion FC in which the Htet Myat Paing Htoo FC won 2-1. It is reported that 26 football teams are competing in this tournament, which will continue until December 7.
