Environmental Conservation: MONREC Union Minister visits Minbu and Salin

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi visited Minbu and Salin townships in Magway Region on Saturday to meet with local authorities and residents.

He discussed tropical forest conservation, reforestation, environmental protection, and reduction of air pollution from forest fires. He emphasized the importance of forests in protecting ecosystems, improving climate conditions, and ensuring a clean environment for future generations. The Union Minister noted that forest cover in Minbu District has increased by 1.19% from 2020 to 2025 due to ongoing efforts. He also urged collaboration between government departments and locals to prevent fire hotspots and reduce smoke haze, which harms public health.

The Union Minister later inspected healthcare services provided by specialists from Minbu General Hospital and met with community leaders to discuss environmental awareness. In the afternoon, he visited Namada Home for the Aged in Minbu and coordinated the needs.
