Study Tour: Myanmar delegation tours in Belarus

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung attended the International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom. Belarus" in Minsk from September 29 to October 3, organized by Joint Belarusian-Myanmar Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

On October 2, the second meeting of the Joint Committee was held, under the chairmanship of Union Minister Dr Wah Wah Maung and Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov.

The meeting discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level, identified priority areas and ways to further deepen cooperation, including in the fields of engineering, agriculture, healthcare, science and technology, education, culture, and tourism. Following the talks, the co-chairs adopted the minutes of the meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Myanmar Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

On September 29, the delegation member Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut attended the Expo, Plenary Session and Reception for the Special Guests. The Plenary Session was joined by the Prime Ministers of Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They gave speeches, highlighting the strategic goals for the partner countries in the field of new technologies through practical cooperation.

During their stay in Minsk, the delegation observed the industrial innovations, high-tech products, modern technologies and display of machinery. On September 30, the Union Minister met with Belarusian Minister of Health Aliaksandr Khajayeu, and Deputy Minister of Industry Mr Denis Bakei.

During the meetings, they discussed the areas of cooperation in health care and medicine fields as well as industrial and agriculture sector. The delegation also visited the diary factory and automobile plant and discussed the opportunities for cooperation and investments.

Likewise, the Joint Committee members also held separate meetings with officials from Belarus and discussed matters on prospects of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, research works, payment methods and economic cooperation.

The delegation members also visited the Advin CJSC Factory and the Pharmaceutical Factory and observed the production process with innovative technologies and medicines. The delegation arrived back in Myanmar on October 4.
