The Tatmadaw has regained full control of Kyaukme town in northern Shan State, after a 21-day military operation to remove TNLA, DPLA and PDF terrorists. Armed groups had temporarily taken over Kyaukme, Naungcho, and several villages in the nearby areas.

The Tatmadaw launched a counter-terrorism operation starting from July 16, regaining control of Naungcho and key transport routes like Gotwin Bridge and Goteik Viaduct. By September 30, more than 20 villages and key strategic points were retaken through coordinated ground and air operations.

On October 1, at around 4 PM, the Tatmadaw fully retook Kyaukme town. Over the 21-day period, 112 clashes occurred. The Tatmadaw reported 61 enemy casualties and seized weapons, but also acknowledged some of its soldiers were injured.

TNLA, DPLA and PDF terrorists destroyed public buildings, schools, religious sites, and looted homes during their occupation. Historic infrastructure like the Goteik Viaduct was damaged by explosives. A temporary steel bridge has now been built and 59.1% of repairs are completed. Local residents welcomed Tatmadaw troops with flowers and expressed relief.

The Tatmadaw is now working to restore administration, security, and allow displaced residents to return. Security operations will continue in cooperation with locals to maintain peace and stability in the region.
