Merit-sharing Ceremony: Security glass and polycarbonate glass donated

On the morning of September 28, a merit-sharing ceremony for the installation of security glass at the entrance and exit of the Hair Relic Chamber and the installation of polycarbonate glass on the surrounding golden walls of the Hair Relic Chamber was held at the Botahtaung Kyaik Dae At Hsan Taw Oo Pagoda in Botahtaung Township, Yangon Region. The ceremony was attended by five monks, including the Abbot Venerable Shi Changzang from the Lingguang Temple (Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple) in Beijing, People's Republic of China.

The ceremony was graced by Sayadaws led by the Chair of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Venerable Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa, and the monks led by the Abbot Venerable Shi Changzang from the Lingguang Temple (Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple) in Beijing. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun, and relevant department officials also attended.

First, the Abbot and responsible persons from the Lingguang Temple cut the ribbon to open the newly installed security glass at the entrance and exit of the Hair Relic Chamber and the polycarbonate glass on the surrounding golden walls, and sprinkled scented water. Following this, the Abbot of the Lingguang delivered words of joy and appreciation and donated 10,000 Yuan for the construction of a new treasury at the Botahtaung Pagoda. The Deputy Minister accepted the donation and distributed the merits of all donations by pouring libation water.

Later in the afternoon, the five monks, including Abbot Venerable Shi Changzang from the Lingguang Temple visited the Maha Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin on Kaba Aye Hill, in Mayangon Township. They paid respects to the Sayadaws who are members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. They discussed matters related to friendship between the two countries, the circumstances of previously bringing the Buddha's Tooth Relic to Myanmar for veneration, and religious affairs, and exchanged commemorative gifts.

It is reported that the Buddha's Tooth Relic from the said Lingguang Temple (Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple) has been brought to Myanmar for veneration a total of four times: once in 1955, once in 1994, once in 1996, and once in 2011.
