Renovating Waziya Cinema: MoI UM attends coordination meeting

The coordination meeting of the work committee and sub-committees on upgrading Waziya Cinema to become the international-standardized movie theatre was held at the Ministry of Information on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn stressed that renovations must be done not only for screening films but also for using the cinema in various sectors. Preparations must be made in order to be able to inaugurate the cinema in March, 2026 and the parking-lots should also be considered in carrying out the upgrading works along with constructing the over and underpasses for the convience of the movie audience.

After that, Chairman of the work committee Deputy Minister U Ye Tint made discussions with the sub-committees regarding the upgrading works for Waziya Cinema in order to meet the international standards.

The chairmen of the sub-committees in turn made clarifications on the necessary works regarding the air-conditioning, electricity, renovation of the building, audio, lighting and projection. Then, the attendees made sector-wise discussions respectively. Afterwards, the Union Minister coordinated the needs and the meeting came to an end.
