





The opening ceremony of the communication, press, information and natural disaster management panel discussion, jointly organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Ministry of Information, was held at the assembly hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on September 22.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended the ceremony and delivered the opening remarks.
At the opening ceremony, the Union Minister in delivering the opening remarks, stated that five sector-based discussion sessions have already been conducted as part of pre-awareness activities leading up to the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on October 13, 2025. This discussion is the sixth session, focusing on the sectors of communications, press, information and disaster risk management. The communications, press, information sectors are crucial in all three phases of the disaster risk management process. It is necessary for the public to widely, accurately, and promptly understand the sector-based efforts undertaken by the government for disaster risk management. Since this discussion is a beneficial session related to disaster risk management, attendees are encouraged to study, take notes, share the information further, and exchange their experiences through discussion and inquiry.
During the discussion session, responsible personnel from the Central Statistical Organization, the Directorate of Communications, the Directorate of Transport, the Information and Public Relations Department, and the Disaster Management Department participated according to their respective sectors. A total of 160 staff and officials from various ministries attended, engaging in mutual questions and discussions to clarify their inquiries.
