Opening Ceremony: MDY CM opened the Student Sports Festival

The opening ceremony of the Basic Education Student Sports Festival of Mandalay Region was held on the evening of September 21 at the Aung Myay Mandalar Sports Ground in Aungmyethazan Township.

At the ceremony, Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung delivered the opening speech, stating that sports competitions for basic education schools have been held at the school and township levels, and now at the regional level, competitions will be held in seven sports: football, volleyball, track and field, Sepak Takraw, table tennis, basketball, and badminton.

He emphasized that outstanding athletes should strive to participate as Myanmar’s representatives in the 14th ASEAN School Games to be held in Brunei in 2025. He also highlighted the importance of continuous learning and effort to become knowledgeable and skilled individuals in education, and encouraged student athletes to work hard with determination and dedication to advance from school-level athletes to national-level athletes in sports.

Then, the Chief Minister officially opened the Basic Education Student Sports Festival. Subsequently, the ceremony continued as planned, with the Chief Minister and officials observing and encouraging 800 students as they performed demonstrations of physical exercise sets (3 and 4) and physical fitness exercises.

They also watched the track and field competitions (100 meters, 200 meters, and 4x400 meters relay races). Afterward, the Region Chief Minister and party awarded trophies and certificates of honor to the first, second, and third prize winners in the competitions.
