





Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, accompanied by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and officials, visited the Weaving and Vocational Training School under the Department of Small-Scale Industries in Taunggyi, Shan State (South), on September 21.
The Union Minister and party observed the practical weaving activities of trainees attending the six-month handloom weaving course and the one-year yarn and textile proficiency course, as well as the research-based weaving practices specific to the training school.
They also inspected the dining hall and trainee dormitories. Later, the Union Minister met with the school principal, instructors, and trainees, delivered remarks, and distributed food supplies and cash assistance to the trainees. The Union Minister and party then proceeded to the Aye Thar Yar Industrial Zone to attend the opening ceremony of the Grain & Edible Oils Company Limited, a joint venture investment by Myanmar Awba Group and Ayeyarwady Seed Company.
The company operates under a contract farming system with local farmers for corn cultivation, corn seed production, and corn drying and storage facilities. The Union Minister, Shan State Chief Minister, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the factory building.
The Union Minister and the State Chief Minister delivered honorary addresses. Attendees also watched a documentary video on the factory construction. An official explained the project details, followed by a group photo session and a tour of the factory.
The Union Minister and party also visited UNI ENERGY Company’s 10-megawatt solar power plant (Plot No. 102, Aye Thar Yar Industrial Zone), Royal TGI Company Limited’s U Nyi Inlay Fabric Printing and Dyeing Operation, Housing for retired military personnel. Necessary coordination and support were provided for these projects.
Additionally, the Union Minister visited He Kael Village, Taunggyi Township, to inspect the 3.8-furlong concrete road construction connecting He Kael and Magyi Pin - villages. He issued necessary instructions and met with village residents to address their needs through coordinated efforts.
