








Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, who was part of the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister on his visit to the People’s Republic of China, attended and participated in the first-ever China-ASEAN Industry Ministers’ Roundtable Discussion held on September 17 at the Wanda Vista Hotel in Nanning.
The industry ministers from China and ASEAN member states agreed to strengthen industrial policy coordination and strategic alignment, build a regional innovation ecosystem, enhance standards cooperation in areas such as digital, green, and AI-driven industrial transformation, promote digital infrastructure, develop digital platforms, support the growth of satellite navigation services, and explore collaboration in emerging industries including the digital economy and new energy sectors etc.
Following this, the Union Minister met with officials from the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. He expressed that the discussions with China and other ASEAN countries provided an opportunity to explore future collaboration in the industrial sector. He emphasized that through exchanging views with partners, Myanmar aims to jointly build a better industrial future for the development of its industrial sector and economic progress.
Additionally, the Union Minister participated in the China-ASEAN Industrial Exchange and Promotion Event along with industry ministers from ASEAN member states, where he engaged in discussions and delivered remarks.
Later, the Union Minister held a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China. They openly exchanged views on matters related to industrial sector cooperation and human resource development between the two countries, investment opportunities in Myanmar for Chinese companies, collaboration for the development of MSMEs, production of goods related to iron, steel, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and bamboo, and cooperation in agriculture-based industries, cotton, edible oil, rice mills, and high-tech machinery, it’s leant.
