An awareness-raising session on anti-corruption, jointly organized by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Anti-Corruption Commission, was held at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 18th September.
Union Minister Dr. Wah Wah Maung attended the event and delivered the opening address, stating that anti-corruption efforts are an integral part of good governance. She emphasized that only with clean and honest civil servants can a clean government and good governance system be achieved.
Quoting the saying, “Prevention is better than cure,” she highlighted the importance of proactively preventing corruption rather than merely investigating and taking action after incidents occur. Hence, this awareness-raising discussion on anti-corruption was organized.
Following this, the Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission delivered a speech on anti-corruption efforts. Subsequently, officials from the Anti-Corruption Commission Office led discussions and explanations on anti-corruption measures and the anti-corruption law.
Later, the Commission Member chaired a meeting with members of the Corruption Prevention Unit from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. They discussed the experiences, strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations encountered by prevention units in the course of their work.
