







Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi visited the nursery gardens in Magway Town, Magway Region on September 17.
The Union minister inspected the cultivation of saplings by tree species and instructed officials to ensure a continuous supply of saplings over 2 feet tall annually, cultivate tree species suitable for the region, and collect high-quality pure seeds for nursery cultivation.
Later, the Union Minister met with staff from departments under the ministry at the Township Hall in Minbu.
In his address, the Union Minister stated that the ministry is managing and conserving natural resources for long-term sustainability and continuous utilization. Efforts are being made to restore forest coverage and achieve 50% national forest coverage. He highlighted that initiatives such as establishing forest plantations, greening roadsides, greening 13 dry zones, protecting natural forests, and conserving ecosystems and biodiversity are being accelerated.
Following this, the Union Minister visited private timber shops and sawmills in Minbu Township to inspect the development of wood-based industries. He also went to offices under the ministry in Minbu to examine their operations and provided necessary coordination.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister inspected the survival rate of 1,000 various tree species planted during the 2025 National-Level Monsoon Season Tree Planting Campaign under the greening program for 13 dry zones along the Minbu-Ann roadside in Minbu Township.
He also checked the progress of a 30-acre village firewood plantation and a 1,500-sapling special green cluster plantation near TeKone Village, the survival of trees from the 2025 Monsoon Season Public Participation Tree Planting Campaign, the status of a 20-acre village firewood plantation and a 30-acre village firewood plantation in the Sin Gaung-Zee I protected forest area, and the survival of a 50-acre village firewood plantation within the Bagan protected forest perimeter. He issued necessary instructions based on his observations.
On September 18, the Union Minister visited the Myanmar Soil-Enhanced A-1 Stove Production Facility in Ywar Thar Yar Village, Minbu Township. He inspected the enhanced stove production process and provided necessary coordination based on reports from responsible officials.
