Fish Releasing Ceremony: Magway Region CM attended the ceremony

Magway Region Department of Fisheries is conducting fish stocking into the River, streams and dams in the districts and townships of the region to ensure sustainable development of fisheries, prevent fish species extinction, ensure the continuous existence of fish species in natural waters, increase fish production, and create job opportunities for locals.

On September 18th, fish releasing ceremony was held at the Shore of Ayeyawady River with the attendance of the Chief Minister U Tint Lwin along with the departmental officials.

During the ceremony, a total of 400,000 rohu and Silver barb fingerlings were stocked. For sustainable development of fisheries resources, the Department of Fisheries (Magway) is conducting annual fish releasing ceremonies along with the holding of knowledge sharing to those who are operating fish farms. Fingerlings camps were launched in Taung Twin Gyi and Pwint Phyu Townships for food sufficiency and create more job opportunities of the local people. And, the department plans to stock a total of 1 million fingerlings in the region this year, it’s reported.
