




An event for the signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Attorneys-General Meeting was held in Bali, Indonesia, from September 15 to 16, 2025. A Myanmar delegation led by Dr. Thida Oo, Union Minister and Union Attorney-General, attended at the invitation of Indonesia's Attorney-General, Mr. Burthanuddin.
Attorneys-General from all ten ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General also attended the event. At the signing ceremony, Union Minister and Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo stated that the establishment of the ASEAN Attorneys-General Meeting was agreed upon based on the outcomes of several previous meetings.
These include the first consultative meeting in Bangsaen , Thailand, in 2023; the second consultative meeting in Bali, Indonesia, and the third in Siem Reap , Cambodia, both in 2024; and the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos, in 2024.
This new meeting aims to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. The purpose of establishing the ASEAN Attorneys-General Meeting is to foster cooperation among member states on prosecution and litigation in accordance with their respective national laws.
This new forum will facilitate collaboration on prosecution and litigation matters, support international legal cooperation, and promote joint training to enhance the capacity of government legal officials in ASEAN member states.
Dr. Thida Oo remarked that signing this declaration opens a new chapter in the field of legal cooperation within ASEAN. During the ceremony, the Attorneys-General from the ASEAN member states signed the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Attorneys-General Meeting.
The signing of this declaration will benefit ASEAN by strengthening cooperation among member states to combat cross-border crimes, fostering greater goodwill, and enhancing collaboration among their Attorneys-General's offices in the areas of prosecution and litigation.
