







Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun visited Upper Paung Laung Hydropower Plant on Saturday. They inspected the current status of the two turbines that were submerged due to Typhoon Yagi, one of which has been repaired and is now running on a test basis, while the other is still under repair.
The Union Minister instructed for systematic maintenance for constant generation of electricity while accelerating the repair works of the remaining one. Once completion, 140 megawatt electricity could be generated through National Grid starting the first week of October. In meeting with staff, the Union Minister appreciated for efforts of the staff and technicians in repairing the damaged turbines.
He called for capacity building of the staff while ensuring the long term durability of the facilities. The Union Minister and party later viewed the water inflow into the dam and its durability.
