









Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended a seed distribution ceremony held in Yoe Wa Village of Hmawby Township in Yangon Region on Saturday.
In his speech, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of expanding the cultivation of oil crops to support domestic cooking oil consumption and reduce reliance on imports. He highlighted the ministry's efforts to supply farmers with quality seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural inputs at affordable rates especially through cooperatives.
He also explained the ongoing support programs like agricultural training, infrastructure development, and access to credit through Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank and cooperative loan schemes. At the event, high-yield groundnut seeds were handed over to cooperative member farmers from eight villages across Hlegu, Hmawby, Taikkyi, and Htantabin townships, covering a total of 1,000 acres.
After the event, the Union Minister visited the Myanmar Handicrafts Center (MHC) under the Small-Scale Industries Department, where he observed product displays and encouraged cooperation with the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism to promote sales to foreign visitors and boost export revenue.
