16 Suspects Arrested : Large drug shipment to Malaysia seized

Authorities seized a large amount of illegal drugs planned to be smuggled to Malaysia and arrested 16 suspects, including members of the AA armed group.

The operation took place in Yangon Region across several locations from September 5 to 7, following tip-offs from the public. Seized items included 4,440 kg of ICE (methamphetamine), 1,100 kg of Ketamine, 4 million stimulant tablets, 14 kg of heroin and 5 vehicles.

Suspects admitted that the drugs were purchased from northern Shan State and were intended for export to Malaysia by river routes, with AA members using the drug money to buy weapons and fund operations. Authorities confirmed that actions will continue to arrest the remaining fugitives and anyone linked. The public is urged to report drug-related activity, with rewards and full confidentiality promised to informants.
