Library Development : Reading Habit Promotion Festival held in Paung Township

A Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Festival was held on Friday at Basic Education High School in Paung Township of Mon State.

The event aimed to improve libraries and encourage reading habits among students. Chief Minister U Aung Kyaw Thein, along with the regional ministers, officially opened the event. Awards and gifts were presented to student performance groups who featured traditional dance and songs.

During the festival, activities included storytelling, poem recitation, impromptu speech competitions, art contests, and science exhibitions. Students also participated in book fairs, photo exhibitions, and various fun games and sports. At Shwe Yadana Hall, students performed with a theme song titled "Let’s Go to the Library."

The Chief Minister gave an opening speech, highlighting the importance of long-term library development and promoting a reading culture. He also donated 5 million kyats for the festival and received donations from well-wishers. Prize-giving ceremonies were held for winners of various competitions. Mon State Library Foundation also donated books and magazines to school libraries.
