










A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Transport and Communications, U Mya Tun Oo, departed from Yangon via air at noon on September 1, 2025, to attend the 10th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok, Russian Federation. The visit was upon the invitation of Mr. Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee and Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Finance and Revenue, Ministry of Electric Power, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health, Ambassador of Myanmar to the Russian Federation; relevant senior officials from the ministries; and the UMFCCI Vice President attended the 10th EEF.
On the morning of September 3, Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo and Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw met with Mr. Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee. In the afternoon, they held a meeting with a delegation led by Mr. SHATIROV Sergey Vladimirovich, Board Member of the Roskongress Investment Fund and Honorary Consul of Myanmar in the Russian Federation, for open and frank discussions.
On September 4, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw participated as a panelist in the Russia-ASEAN Business Dialogue program and delivered remarks. In the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation, led by the Union Minister for Transport and Communications, met with a delegation headed by Mr. Sholban Valerievich KARA-OOL, Deputy Chairman of the Duma of the Russian Federation. In the evening, the Myanmar delegation met with Mr. Ivan Viktorovich Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, to discuss collaborative matters and toured the exhibitions displayed at the forum.
On the morning of September 5, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo received Ms. Lidia Filatova, International Recruitment Agency Director of SYNERGY Corporation, Russia, and discussed matters related to cooperation. Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw participated as a Speaker in a panel discussion titled "Global South and East: who will lead the new growth economy," which was attended by members of the Myanmar delegation.
Subsequently, the Myanmar delegation met with a group led by Mr. Maksim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, for open and frank discussions and exchange of views on matters for future cooperation.
Later, in the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation attended the Main Forum Plenary Session of the 10th EEF. At this session, the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, delivered a speech and led the main discussions of the international economic forum.
The panelists included Prime Minister of the Lao PDR; Prime Minister of Mongolia; and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
Following the plenary session, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin met with Mr. Maksim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, and officials from GAZPROM company.
They held open and frank discussions and exchanged views on matters for further enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries. On the afternoon of September 6, Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win visited a Medical Center in Vladivostok, Russian Federation and held discussions with the responsible officials of the center.
The Eastern Economic Forum has been held annually since 2015. It aims to establish connections between the Russian Federation and investment organizations and to serve as a platform for international cooperation for the economic development of the Asia-Pacific region.
It is reported that this 10th EEF was attended by over 7,000 participants, including leaders, government groups, experts, and private business owners from 75 countries worldwide. The Myanmar delegation, led by the Union Minister for Transport and Communications, returned to Myanmar via air on the afternoon of September 8, 2025.
