Sayadaw U Ottama Day: Rakhine State CM attended the event

A wreath-laying and tribute ceremony to commemorate the 86th anniversary of the Sayadaw U Ottama Day was held in front of the statue of the Sayadaw U Ottama at the U Ottama Park in Sittwe at 7 AM on September 9.

The event was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, members of the state government, departmental officials, and ethnic youth.

First, the Chief Minister, the Chief Justice, and officials paid their respects by playing traditional Rakhine drums and walking clockwise around the statue. They then laid wreaths and paid their respects. After that, the ethnic youth discussed the biography of the Venerable Sayadaw U Ottama.

Following the ceremony, Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended a coordination meeting at the Rakhine State Government Office's meeting room. The meeting focused on the preparation and submission of budget estimates for state-level departments and organizations for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The Chief Minister gave an opening speech at the meeting.

Next, the State Minister for Economy and the state directors of the State Budget Department and the State Planning Department gave presentations on their respective sectors.

Following the presentations, members of the state government discussed and submitted budget estimates for the departments and organizations under their ministries. State-level departments and organizations also presented their budget estimates.

The Chief Minister then responded to the discussions and gave a closing speech, it’s reported.
