The opening ceremony of the 26th Mandalay Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition was held at the City Hall of the Mandalay City Development Committee Office in Chanayethazan Township in the morning on September 8.

The event was attended by Chairman of the organizing committee for the 26th Myanmar Traditional Performing Arts Competition and Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, and his wife, as well as the Chief Justice of the Region High Court, region ministers and their wives, officials from the organizing and sub-committees, members of the judging panel, and contestants from various districts and universities.

In his opening speech, the Chief Minister stated that the competition is held annually to honor the efforts of the new generation of young enthusiasts. He highlighted that the competition reflects the national cultural identity of the Myanmar people and emphasized that the regional-level competition must fairly select qualified artists for the central-level competition.

Following the speech, the Chief Minister, region ministers, the Rector of the National University of Arts and Culture (Mandalay), and other officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the event. They then watched performances of the "Performing Arts Competition" tribute song, the "Pan-cha Gita " group dance, and an "Ozi or long drum" group performance. The Chief Minister, as the chairman of the organizing committee, presented cash awards for the performances. The second part of the ceremony then commenced as planned, with the Chief Minister watching the performances of the competing group dancers.
