Providing Social Pensions: MoSWRR UM attended the ceremony

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended a ceremony to provide social pensions to individuals aged 85 and older, grant financial assistance to volunteer organizations, and provide aid to internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the National Disaster Management Fund held at the Mingala Byuha Hall in Pyinmana Township on September 8.

During the ceremony, the Union Minister stated that the Ministry is actively involved in social protection and development programs. The government provides social pensions in a single payment covering six months to individuals aged 85 and older as a social protection measure to support and honor them.

He added that the government works systematically with volunteer organizations to assist those in need. He noted that the government provides support to self-reliant institutions like pre-primary schools, youth development homes, women's shelters, disability centers, and homes for the aged, which were established based on local community needs.

He also urged these institutions to operate in accordance with financial regulations and standard operating guidelines. Following his speech, the Union Minister presented 297.867 million Kyats to Nay Pyi Taw Council member Colonel Ye Moe.

This amount will be distributed to 17 volunteer organizations in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, including 11 youth development homes, 3 women's shelters, and 3 homes for the aged, as well as 60 self-reliant pre-primary schools.

He also presented 662.160 million Kyats from the national fund for over 11,000 IDPs to Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Zeyar Lin. The Deputy Minister then presented 284.400 million Kyats for social pensions to Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Myint Soe, which will benefit 4,759 individuals aged 85 and older.

A representative from the volunteer organizations expressed words of thanks. In total, the ceremony provided 1,244.427 million Kyats in aid for 18,499 people in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, includes social pensions for 4,759 individuals aged 85 and older, support for 2,704 people cared for by volunteer organizations, and assistance for 11,036 IDPs.
