Training for Instructors: UEC Chairman delivered the opening speech

The opening ceremony of the "Training Course for Technical Support Instructors on the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM)" was held at the Extended Office Building of the Union Election Commission (UEC) on September 8.

The event was attended by the Chairman of Union Election Commission (UEC) U Than Soe, Commission members, responsible officials from the UEC office, as well as trainees. In his opening address, the UEC Chairman stated that the Commission has already announced plans to hold elections in phases starting from December 28, 2025.

He also mentioned that the upcoming elections will incorporate new systems, including the use of electronic voting via MEVMs, and the phased implementation of the electoral process. The training course will provide both theoretical and practical instruction on the operations required for the use of voting machines in the election.

Upon completion of the course, trainees will be responsible for conducting follow-up training sessions for teams in various townships that will handle the pre-deployment of the voting machines. Therefore, he urged participants to take the training seriously and master the necessary skills.

He further emphasized that, in order to hold free, fair, and credible elections, the UEC seeks the cooperation of the technical support teams in a united and collaborative effort. The training course will be held from September 8 to 9 and is attended by a total of 45 participants, including those joining via video conference.
