









A ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and made a speech, highlighting the historic relations between the two countries since Pyu Dynasty over 1,400 years ago, which is the basic foundation of currently practiced Peaceful Co-existence Policy.
He added that Myanmar is among the first country that recognized the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, with the establishment of diplomatic relations on 8th June 1950. Based on the historic relations between the two countries, Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence was signed in 1954, becoming an exemplary in the history of current international relations, with widely practiced by many developing countries.
He reiterated that Myanmar firmly practiced One China Policy in the international arena, with full recommendation of China to become a member of the United Nations in 1971. He pledged to continue to practice One China Policy to support for further strengthening of bilateral friendly relations and regional peace and stability. Emphasizing the strategic location of Myanmar in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the Prime Minister expressed his belief that early implementation of these projects could help support the socio-economic development of people from both countries.
He also expressed thanks for the assistance of China for the Myanmar’s efforts for achieving lasting peace, national reconciliation and development works as well as the humanitarian assistance for the communities affected by the powerful Mandalay earthquake and provisions of COVID-19 vaccines and medical equipment. He pledged to make closed cooperation with China for common interest of the two peoples based on mutual respect and shared community spirit. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia also spoke at the event.
This was followed by entertainment programs, performing songs of dances of Myanmar and China, and screening of a video clip on the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation. After the ceremony, the Prime Minister and party toured the booths which display the documentary photos on the bilateral cooperation projects.
