Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, on May 7, inspected the temporary housing being built by the Department of Cooperatives and the Department of Cottage Industries for staff members on the land owned by the ministry, the road construction connecting the land to the office, the drilling of tube wells by the Department of Rural Development for clean water access, and the designated area for container accommodation units.

During the inspection, the Union Minister instructed that all essential infrastructure, including roads, water, electricity, and sanitation systems, be completed by May 15, and the relocation of staff and facilities be carried out by May 17.

Following that, the Union Minister visited the machinery yard of the Department of Rural Road Development in Zabuthiri Township, where 10 temporary dormitories for staff had been set up. He inspected the living conditions and instructed the responsible personnel to systematically organize the accommodations and ensure safe use of electricity and cooking equipment in the shared kitchen.

Later, the Union Minister traveled to Pauk-Myaing Village in Lewe Township, where he met with members of cooperative societies engaged in summer and monsoon paddy cultivation. He delivered a speech and coordinated support for their immediate needs.

Continuing his visit, he observed the mobile water purification truck operated by the Department of Rural Development, which was providing drinking water to Pauk-Myaing Village. He also visited the Zue Ei Chal consumer goods production facility.

After that, the Union Minister inspected the 600-foot Paunglaung-Kyopintha bridge spanned on Sittoung River, which had been damaged by the Mandalay earthquake on March 28. Engineers explained the extent of the damage and the current repair status, noting that from April 9, the bridge had been reopened to allow vehicles up to 8 tons and the public to cross.

The Union Minister instructed to assess and compile reports on rural roads, bridges, and water supply systems damaged by the earthquake, ensure uninterrupted transportation routes by expediting necessary repairs, and submit detailed proposals for continued restoration efforts. He also pledged coordinated support to meet operational needs.
