Meeting With Teaching Volunteers: MoE UM gave guidance and directives

An event of giving guidance and directives to university and degree college teachers who will begin teaching subjects to the students retaking the matriculation examination starting from May 2 was held at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on April 30.

Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe first explained that the initiative is intended to help boost the morale of students affected by the recent earthquake. Professors, associate professors, lecturers, and teachers from universities and degree colleges will volunteer to teach at designated schools.

This initiative aims not only to support students but also to uplift the spirits of basic education teachers in the affected areas. The Union Minister emphasized that volunteering to teach these students is a noble act of educational philanthropy and will serve as a historic milestone.

He expressed gratitude and appreciation to all participating teachers. Next, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint remarked that this program is a national-level, historic volunteer initiative, comparable to the literacy campaigns of the 1970s.

He requested that subject professors provide training on teaching methods to the participating teachers. The Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing added that the current situation presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate the Ministry’s collective capability, with all departments working together in unity.

After that, directors-general, rectors, and education officers attending the event discussed various needs and challenges. The Union Minister responded to their inputs and assured them that necessary support and coordination would be provided.

Later, the Union Minister and officials visited the construction site of barrack-style housing being built for education staff and their families affected by the earthquake. During the visit, the Union Minister gave instructions to responsible officials and ensured that the necessary support and resources were provided.
