Agriculture and Livestock Sector : Piggery farm and digging canal in Chaung Sone Township

Mon State Government is making efforts for development of agriculture and livestock sector, ensuring food sufficiency.

On April 26th, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and officials visited Kwan Thae Village in Chaung Sone Township to inspect the piggery farm which is operated together with the durian cultivation. The Chief Minister instructed for prevention against environmental pollution, systematic utilizing of animal feces as natural fertilizer and extended implementation of tasks. 

They then inspected the progress of digging Kyawe Lan  Canal in Boe Net  Village, and heard reports on work undertakings. The Chief Minister stressed that the State Government is implementing the repair of dams and reservoirs while dredging the natural canals to ensure sufficient irrigated water for boosting cultivation.

He urged all to strive for achieving targeted yield, using the quality species and correct agricultural methods. They then inspected the project site which is 7,500 ft long and 12 ft wide with the depth of 6.50 ft. It is targeted to complete during this year, and upon completion, it could help prevent inundation to 1,500 acres monsoon paddy field while also providing irrigated water for winter crops.
