17-year-old minor on trial for the murder of his parents

The trial of 17-year-old Valentin, accused of murdering his parents in 2023 in Isère, began behind closed doors in Bourgoin-Jallieu. 

The case centers on his history with Lyme disease, which shaped much of his family’s life. His mother spent years ensuring he received proper treatment, and the disease affected their daily routine. 

Though experts have ruled Lyme disease was not the direct cause of the murders, it remains central to the case. Valentin's defense lawyer argued that the illness may have contributed to his psychological state. The court is now considering the circumstances of the crime and Valentin’s future.
