



The 10th meeting of the Central Supervisory Committee of the Monastic Abbot Training Schools was held at the Convocation Hall of the State Pariyatti Sasana University (Yangon), located on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, Mayangone Township, Yangon Region on February 26.
The meeting was attended by member of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Chairman Sayadaw of the Central Supervisory Committee of the Monastic Abbot Training Schools, Baddanta Candavara, along with principals of the monastic abbit training schools from various regions and states, the Union Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin, and respective responsible officials from relevant departments, participated with reverence.
The meeting commenced with an opening address by the Chairman Sayadaw of the Central Supervisory Committee of the Monastic Abbot Training Schools who is a member of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. Following this, the Union Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin, supplicated religious matters stating that monastic abbot training schools are training monks to carry out religious duties in their respective regions in a manner suited to modern times. These schools provide education in religious affairs, social matters, contemporary culture, and teacher-disciple relations skills that monks should know and deserve to learn. He further noted that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture has undertaken the task of printing Buddhist scriptures using a computerized typesetting system without altering the original texts from the Sixth Buddhist Synod. This includes 40 volumes of the Tipitaka, 51 volumes of commentaries (Atthakatha), and 26 volumes of sub-commentaries (Tika). Of these, 30 volumes have been completed, 6 are in the process of being printed, and 15 are under review by editorial monks. Additionally, the ministry is working on cleaning and maintaining 3,837 pagodas and stupas across regions, states, and the Bagan World Cultural Heritage area (including Naypyidaw Council Territory). This involves zoning, ensuring cleanliness, enhancing reverence, installing lighting, and clearing overgrown trees and shrubs to facilitate peaceful visits by local and international pilgrims.
Subsequently, Director-General of the Department for the Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana U Soe Min Tun, presented the progress made on decisions from the 9th meeting of the Central Supervisory Committee of the Monastic Abbot Training Schools and outline the ongoing processes and tasks related to the monastic training schools that still need to be addressed.
