As Ramadan approached, Egyptians in Cairo’s Sayyida Zeinab district raised concerns over rising prices, with goods now costing 30 to 35 percent more than the previous year. Imported items, such as traditional lanterns, faced significant price increases due to their reliance on the US dollar.

Local merchants attributed the hikes to ongoing economic pressures, including the situation in Gaza. Price increases during Ramadan and Eid have become a common pattern in recent years, reflecting broader economic challenges linked to regional instability.
