






Central Committee for Data Accuracy and Quality of Statistics held its meeting (1/2024-2025) at the Ministry of Planning and Finance office No (32) in Nay Pyi Taw on January 21.
The Committee Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein discussed that the crucial need for strengthening the national statistical system to foster the country's development. By obtaining high-quality statistical data, it will be possible to create effective development policies, plans, and a favorable economic environment. Additionally, this will allow for the efficient and productive use of limited resources.
It is essential for the accuracy and correctness of the records in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and industry within the country's economy. In the agriculture sector, it is necessary that data related to cultivated land, harvested areas, yield rates, consumption, exports, and remaining amounts by region and state align with the actual on-the-ground situation.
Additionally, all records concerning foreign trade, investment, finance, currency, and social affairs must be accurate and complete for the correct calculation of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which reflects the total value of domestic production and services.
This ensures the successful planning and implementation of national plans and objectives for each year etc.Subsequently, the Secretary of the Central Committee, Director-General of the Central Statistical Office, provided an update on the progress of the decisions from the Central Committee’s 1/2023 meeting regarding the accuracy and quality of statistical data and the activities according to the different sectors involved.
After that, the Central Committee member Union Ministers, member of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the respective Region/StateMinisters of Economic Affairs and the relevant officials made a roun d of discussions. The Chairman of the Central Committee then coordinated and integrated necessary actions to ensure successful implementation.
