Heavy snow blankets parts of northeastern China

Snow and heavy rain battered several provinces and regions across China on Sunday and Monday, forcing flights to be cancelled and closing schools and halting transportation in the country’s first substantial snowstorm of the season.
Major highways in the city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province were closed. The extreme weather caused by a cold front hit the provinces of Heilongjiang and Liaoning from the start of the week, with authorities working to clear snow from the roads.
